Riessen racked up a total of nine Grand Slam titles. He won the 1971 French Open with Arthur Ashe and the 1976 US Open with Tom Okker. Marty is one of five men to win four US Open mixed doubles events.

His singles skills enabled him to collect nine Open trophies, and this former Northwestern University tennis and basketball star, with a Masters degree in education, was ranked in the top ten in singles in 1971 (8th ) and 9th in 1972. Riessen had the coveted assignment of coaching the United States Women’s Olympic teams in 1988 and 1992, whose achievements produced gold medals. He also coached the world champion U.S. Women’s Federation Cup team for eight years (1986-1994).

Marty was a member of the U.S. Davis Cup team for eight years and winner of four US Open men’s senior titles. He continues to be involved in senior tournaments, corporate and special events. Marty Riessen resides with his wife April and daughters, Jennifer and Cristina, in Santa Barbara, California.
